Heavy traffic Wednesday choked Karachi’s main arteries due to multiple rallies in the city.
According to traffic police, rallies being staged by Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and a civil society group and Gridlocks were witnessed on Shahrah-e-Faisal and M A Jinnah Road.
SSP Traffic Qamar Rizvi has appealed to the people to take alternate routes to reach airport. He ruled out any relief till the rallies disperse.
He further stated that nobody was allowed to take out rally on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Earlier in the day, 13 kilometers long traffic jam was reported as three people were burnt to death and five others suffered burn injuries on Wednesday when an oil tanker burst into flames after colliding with a long trailer at the Super Highway near Karachi.
The incident occurred when a Hyderabad-bound heavy trailer, carrying consignment of new cars, crashed into rear of an oil tanker.
As a result, the oil tanker burst into flames and the fire engulfed cars on the trailer as well as a couple of other vehicles.
Before arrival of rescuers and fire tenders at the spot, people rushed to rescue the victims. Meanwhile, those burnt to death and injured were shifted to Karachi.
The mishap, which took place at around 8.30 am, caused severe traffic jam on the highway for several hours
