Rapper Ralan Styles, born Michael Robinson, was fatally shot during an attempted robbery in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, October 19.
Originally from Tallahassee, Florida, Styles gained fame with his viral hit song ‘Baby Shark.’ The incident occurred when a suspect attempted to steal Styles’ chain, escalating into a violent confrontation that resulted in Styles being declared dead at the scene.
Police have arrested 24-year-old Mahamood Hassan, who has a criminal record, on murder charges. Hassan’s previous encounters with the law include charges of criminal trespassing and theft.
Styles’ brother confirmed the rapper’s death via a social media post, sharing his deep sorrow and frustration over the loss.
Known for blending melodic trap with R&B, Styles has become a notable figure in the hip-hop community.
