The Rajasthan government has revoked the registration of Dhankar Hospital in Jhunjhunu following a grave medical error where a doctor mistakenly removed a female patient’s healthy left kidney instead of the non-functional right one. The incident led to immediate governmental action on Tuesday.
Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, Shubhra Singh, confirmed the drastic mistake at the hospital. She stated, “A serious case involving the wrongful removal of a left kidney has emerged, prompting severe measures from the department.”
In response to the error, the Medical and Health Department has not only cancelled the hospital’s registration but is also revoking its empanelment in various government health schemes. Singh added, “We are taking rigorous steps to disassociate the hospital from all state health initiatives. Moreover, procedures to seize the hospital’s assets are underway.”
Additionally, following Supreme Court guidelines, a five-member investigation team has been established to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure such errors are not repeated.
