The political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally endorsed Raja Azam Khan Amacha as their candidate for the Chief Minister position in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The PTI’s parliamentary party unanimously backed Raja Azam Khan Amacha for the role of Chief Minister position in Gilgit-Baltistan.
In a statement, a PTI representative disclosed that their party chairman had personally affirmed Raja Azam Khan Amacha’s candidacy.
The representative also confirmed that PTI holds a considerable majority in the Gilgit-Baltistan Council, suggesting a favourable outcome for Raja Azam Khan Amacha in securing the chief ministerial role.
This nomination follows the disqualification of the former Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khalid Khurshid, on Tuesday over a case related to a fraudulent degree. The Chief Court of Gilgit-Baltistan announced the verdict, presided over by a three-member panel led by Justice Inayatur Rahman.

Furthermore, the region’s political landscape has become more tumultuous following the disqualification of Khalid Khurshid. A no-confidence motion has been initiated against the Speaker of the GB Assembly, Nazir Ahmed. In response, the Secretary of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly has issued notices to all assembly members, calling them to a special session to deliberate and vote on the motion.
