An explosion at a cracker shop on Quetta’s Moti Ram Road injured two people. The initial blast ignited other crackers, leading to a fire. The shop was destroyed, with two neighbouring shops partially damaged.
Quetta’s fire brigade managed to control the fire. Investigations indicated the explosion was caused by excessive heat on the stored fireworks ordered for August 14 celebrations. Authorities dismissed terror involvement. Initially, the incident was mistakenly termed a “bomb blast” by the Balochistan Chief Minister, who later sought a report on the province’s security measures.
