A deadly explosion rocked Quetta’s Barech Market on Double Road, killing three people and injuring 21 others, including four policemen.
The blast, which targeted a police vehicle, occurred on March 27, 2025, escalating concerns over Balochistan’s worsening security. Authorities are still determining the cause, with no group claiming responsibility.
Police surgeon Dr. Ayesha Faiz confirmed that three bodies were brought to Civil Hospital, where 21 injured victims received treatment. “Four of the wounded are critical, including four officers,” she told the media.
Balochistan health department spokesperson Dr. Waseem Baig added, “The injured are now at the trauma center, receiving urgent care.”

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind called the attack a strike against stability. “We’re investigating the nature of this blast near the police vehicle,” he said. Social media footage, verified by Dawn.com, captured the chaotic aftermath: a charred police truck, a burning motorcycle, and a damaged Suzuki Alto. Amid blaring sirens, a bystander was seen dragging the motorcycle wreckage away from the scene.
Balochistan Pattern of Violence
This incident follows a disturbing trend in Balochistan. Just last week, a roadside bomb on Brewery Road killed an Anti-Terrorist Force member and critically injured six others. Separatist militants, notably the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), have intensified attacks on security forces, adopting tactics to maximize casualties.
