Vladimir Putin approved Russia’s annexation of Crimea today as the Ukraine fired up tensions by saying it is ready to ‘go to war’ over the Black Sea peninsula.The decree signed by Mr Putin and posted on the official government website today is one of the steps which would formalise the annexation of Crimea.In response, Serhiy Taruta, governor of the eastern city of Donetsk, warned: ‘We’re going to have a war. Our people will take up arms and they will protect our country.’A short distance away, thousands of Russian troops have been carrying out manoeuvres for the past few days.
