Punjab University announced a revised examination schedule on May 12, 2025, for tests postponed due to heightened Pakistan-India tensions, following a ceasefire on May 10.
The university’s notification detailed new dates for Associate Degree, BBA (Hons), and BFA exams. At the same time, all public and private educational institutions in Punjab reopened on May 12, signalling a return to normalcy after a week of closures prompted by Indian missile and drone attacks.
The university rescheduled Associate Degree exams in Arts, Science, Commerce, and Special Category papers, originally set for May 9–10, to May 14–15. BBA (Hons) written exams will now occur on May 15–16, and BFA practical exams for Graphic Design and Textile Design are slated for May 19–20. Venues and timings remain unchanged, ensuring continuity for students. X posts from students expressed relief, though some voiced concerns about preparation time.
All Punjab schools and colleges resumed operations on May 12, following a closure enforced on May 7 due to Indian attacks targeting Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 51 civilians, per ISPR. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed the reopening: “The safety of students and staff remains our top priority. With the situation stabilised, schools and colleges will resume.” The ceasefire, mediated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, restored stability, enabling academic activities to restart.
The conflict disrupted Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) exams, postponing papers like Quran translation, ethics, mathematics, biology, and practicals in regions including Lahore and Multan. The university’s proactive measures ensure minimal disruption, though some practical exam delays persist.
