Punjab Traffic Police have conducted an intensive 48-hour enforcement operation across the province, issuing more than 76,000 traffic challans and collecting fines exceeding Rs71.2 million. The campaign implemented a zero-tolerance policy against traffic violations under directives from DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir.

Police authorities registered 1,402 First Information Reports for serious traffic offences during the two-day initiative. Enforcement measures included impounding over 13,000 vehicles and sentencing 1,390 traffic violators to imprisonment.

The comprehensive operation targeted multiple violation categories, demonstrating the scope of traffic law enforcement throughout Punjab province.

Authorities took significant action against 11,700 individuals driving without valid licenses and more than 4,000 motorists for one-way traffic violations. Over 12,000 motorcyclists received penalties for riding without helmets, addressing critical safety concerns.

Additional enforcement focused on 1,397 public transport vehicles penalised for passenger overloading and more than 3,000 underage drivers facing legal consequences for unlawful vehicle operation.

As part of environmental protection efforts, officials challaned and impounded over 7,200 vehicles contributing to smog conditions. Police separately fined 1,500 unsafe vehicles and impounded 421 that presented immediate safety hazards.

The operation extended beyond conventional traffic enforcement, registering 36 FIRs against drug addicts and beggars disrupting traffic flow. Authorities also addressed 3,875 non-standard number plate violations and 1,262 illegal parking incidents.

DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir confirmed the crackdown will continue without discrimination across all provincial districts. He emphasised that the primary objective remains protecting human lives and ensuring organised traffic flow through consistent enforcement of traffic regulations.
