A concerning incident captured on social media depicts a Punjab police officer engaging in physical aggression towards a woman outside a court in Taxila, Rawalpindi.
The event unfolded as law enforcement attempted to apprehend a suspect named Baseer at the venue. In a bid to prevent her son’s arrest, the mother physically intervened, leading to a confrontation with the police.
Despite her efforts, officers forcefully detained Baseer, escalating the situation when one officer struck the woman and repelled her from their vehicle.
The event prompted immediate action from senior police officials. The City Police Officer, Syed Khalid Hamdani, placed the involved assistant sub-inspector on suspension and requested a detailed report from the Pothohar region’s superintendent.
The official narrative clarified that Baseer’s arrest related to allegations of pickpocketing, noting resistance from him and his mother during the arrest process. Following his detention, Baseer was transported to the relevant police station, with assurances from the spokesperson that subsequent measures against those found at fault would ensue upon inquiry completion.
