Punjab police initiated a major crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members and workers on Saturday before the party’s public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan tonight.

The Punjab police have also blocked routes leading to the Minar-e-Pakistan area. Additionally, containers have been placed at the Shah Alam Market.

After from Lahore, the Punjab police detained around 50 PTI workers from different locations of Rahim Yar Khan and 26 PTI workers, including the son of PTI leader Javed Akhtar Ansari, in Multan. The PTI asserts that other workers from Lodhran and Bhakkar have also been detained.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan announced Minar-e-Pakistan’s power show and urged his supporters to join the Jalsa that he believes will “break all records”.

They will put all sorts of hurdles to prevent people from attending, but I want to remind our ppl that it is their fundamental right to attend a political gathering. Everyone must assert their right as people of a free nation that won its independence & come to Minar i Pakistan.

— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) March 25, 2023

The district government has granted the PTI permission to host a rally tonight at Minar-e-Pakistan; however, containers have been placed on some routes leading to the gathering, including the entrance and exit routes of Lahore.

As part of his ongoing election campaign, the former prime minister organized a “historical” public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on March 19.

Nevertheless, the Lahore High Court (LHC) prohibited the PTI from staging a rally and ordered the party to allow civilians to continue their daily lives. Later, Imran Khan promised another power show on March 22 at the same location.
