In Gujranwala, a criminal group involved in deceiving women with false marriage promises to exploit them sexually has been uncovered, resulting in arrests by Punjab Police.
A complaint was lodged at the Baghbanpura police station in Gujranwala by a resident of Afzal Town, alleging that Muhammad Usman had been exploiting his daughter for the past four years under the guise of marriage. The complainant also stated that his daughter had separated from her husband due to Usman’s manipulative influence.
According to the FIR, Usman had rented a residence on Nowshera Road, where he coerced the woman into living with him. When she demanded marriage, Usman reacted violently, assaulted her, issued threats, and then fled the scene. The police disclosed that this group comprises two brothers, one of whom has been apprehended.
The victim’s father initiated the legal action, leading to the arrest of the main suspect, Muhammad Usman, while his accomplice remains at large. Usman has been placed on judicial remand and is currently detained in jail. Authorities actively search for the second suspect, conducting raids in various locations to ensure his capture.
In a statement released on the official X (formerly Twitter) account, a Punjab Police spokesperson articulated that this arrest is part of an initiative under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Never Again – No More Violence Against Women” campaign. The spokesperson emphasized that any form of violence, harassment, or abuse against women and children is intolerable and highlighted the government’s commitment to securing substantial penalties for those found guilty.
