Following allegations of election fraud by ex-Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha, the Punjab government plans to initiate legal action against him. Meanwhile, PTI has requested a judicial commission, excluding the chief justice, to investigate these claims. Conversely, PML-N views Chattha’s remarks as incendiary, accusing PTI of inciting hostility towards the bureaucracy.

Chattha, in a press briefing, implicated the CEC and CJP in electoral tampering, alleging alterations in the election outcomes. Subsequently, Punjab’s interim chief minister proposed an inquiry, yet no committee has been established. An FIR against Chattha, citing various legal provisions, is imminent, with investigations to follow.
A police operation targeted the residence of Chattha’s secretary, seizing personal devices. The Election Commission has also convened district officials from Rawalpindi Division for testimonies regarding the allegations.
PTI leaders, advocating for an independent judicial panel, insist on transparency and reject the manipulated election results, emphasizing the need for an inquiry without implicating the chief justice. They demand public disclosure of the inquiry outcomes.
PML-N, referencing the turmoil, criticizes PTI’s narrative, warning against the vilification of bureaucrats and threatening stringent action against those intimidating officials. They argue that Chattha’s assertions lack substantiation and attribute motives to PTI’s actions, implying a broader agenda against state stability.
