Punjab is reeling from its worst flood on record in 2025, as relentless rains combined with heavy water inflows from India caused widespread devastation. The disaster has claimed lives, destroyed millions of acres of crops, swept away livestock, and left thousands of families homeless.

In Mouza Kak Shaal, the entire life and land vanished beneath sand deposits. Floodwaters first surged into the village, then receded, leaving behind a thick, suffocating blanket of sand. Homes, tractors, farmland, and cattle were wiped out, with villagers returning only to find barren ground where their community once stood.

Farmer Mian Iftikhar Nekokara described the scale of destruction. “About 22 to 25 houses and 500 acres of farmland are buried,” he said. Families now dig with spades, using Google Earth maps in a desperate attempt to trace the outlines of their lost homes.

Children of lesser god.
This is how people being rescued in South of Punjab.. No Punjab Govt, no helicopters, no rescuers & no boats. Everyone left on mercy of God & wrath of nature.

Nekokara added that despite the disaster, no officials have visited the area so far. “It’s total devastation. We are left on our own,” he shared, pointing out that even though three government ministers hail from the region, visible aid remains absent.

The scale of the flood has been staggering. Crops across Punjab have been flattened, irrigation systems destroyed, and large herds of livestock lost. Sand-covered villages like Kak Shaal stand as stark reminders of how deep the crisis runs.

The flooding has left farmers and families in despair. With livelihoods gone and little support reaching the ground, the humanitarian crisis continues to grow. Relief agencies and officials face urgent calls to provide immediate aid, rehabilitation, and reconstruction support to prevent prolonged suffering.
