Punjab authorities have dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media that residents can obtain a driving license online without taking a driving test. Officials confirmed that the message spreading across WhatsApp groups is false and fraudulent.
The viral post directs users to a website named “dastakpunjab.online.” It claims that citizens can obtain a driving license by submitting personal details and paying the fees through Easy Paisa or Jazz Cash. The message also falsely links the offer to the Driving License Management System and to Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision.
The Punjab Traffic Police has strongly rejected these claims. Officials clarified that the website has no link to the Government of Punjab or any traffic authority. They stressed that the only official portal for online public services is dastak.punjab.govt.pk.
Punjab Traffic Police spokesperson Muhammad Usman Qureshi said authorities have reported and flagged the fake website. He explained that first-time driving license applicants must visit traffic police centres in person. Officials conduct on-site biometric verification, photographing, video recording, and a practical driving test.
He added that applicants cannot complete these mandatory steps online. Any claim suggesting otherwise is misleading and unsafe.
Digital security experts have also warned that such fake websites often aim to steal identity documents, mobile numbers, and financial information. Scammers then use this data for online fraud and identity theft.
Authorities have urged citizens to rely only on official government websites for public services. They also advised the public to avoid suspicious links, unverified messages, and unofficial payment requests shared on social media platforms.
