Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed relevant authorities to develop a detailed plan to enhance the export of pink salt.
Chief Minister Punjab, during a meeting, chaired strategies to generate revenue from this resource and explored the adoption of modern technologies for mineral extraction in Punjab.
Chief Minister Sharif mandated a ban on the export of raw pink salt and emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of mining workers. She asserted, “We will not allow our precious reserves to be undersold; for Pakistan, pink salt is a treasure.”

The meeting included the Provincial Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Zahid Bukhari, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtarzaman, Principal Secretary Sajid Zafar Dal, and Secretary Minerals Babar Aman Babar.
In a related development, Pakistan and the American company Miracle Saltworks Collective Incorporation recently signed an agreement in Islamabad. This agreement aims to add value to Himalayan Pink Salt, boosting its export potential.

Then caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, speaking at the signing ceremony, highlighted the agreement as a significant step forward for the country’s investment climate. He noted that this initiative’s $200 million investment reflects strong confidence in Pakistan’s economic policies and investment-friendly environment.
