On the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a notable step has been taken regarding screening the Hollywood film Barbie in Punjab. A comprehensive censor board meeting is set for today (Tuesday) to reassess the film’s content and determine its eligibility for screening in Punjab. This decision follows the previous ban on Barbie in the region due to controversial content.
The controversy around Barbie has pushed the Punjab government to reconsider its content. Mir stated, “The Punjab government has chosen to refer the film back to the censor board for reassessment.” The reassessment will involve all 12 censor board Punjab members, including Chairman Touqeer Nasir. Mir highlighted, “All 12 censor board members in Punjab, including Chairman Touqeer Nasir, will attend the film’s board review.”
The reassessment aims to eliminate any inappropriate material and confirm that the film abides by the censorship regulations set by the Punjab government. Mir asserted, “Upon eliminating controversial content, Barbie could be authorized for release.”
The film industry and the public eagerly await the result of the comprehensive censor board meeting. The decision to either allow or deny the screening of Barbie in Punjab will significantly influence the film’s destiny in the region.
