The Home Department has officially released the list of banned organisations under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, warning citizens that providing financial assistance to proscribed groups is a criminal offence.
In a formal statement, authorities stressed that donating zakat, charity or any other funds to outlawed organisations is punishable by law. Citizens were urged to ensure their contributions are directed only to legally registered charities.
Punjab Banned Organisations List
According to the notification, the Punjab-banned organisations list includes several groups declared outlawed under anti-terror laws. The department emphasised that financial support, whether direct or indirect, to these entities constitutes a violation of the law.
Authorities also instructed the public to verify charitable organisations through the Punjab Charity Commission before making donations. All legitimate charities operating in Punjab must be registered and display a QR code on their certificate for verification.
Officials stated that donations should reach genuine beneficiaries and not be diverted toward illegal activities.
The complete list of proscribed organisations has also been made available on the websites of the Punjab Home Department and the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
The Home Department has appealed to citizens to report any fundraising efforts or suspicious activities linked to banned groups.Complaints can be submitted through the toll-free number 0800-11111 or the helpline 042-99213871.
Authorities reiterated that public cooperation is essential to ensure compliance with the Anti-Terrorism Act and to prevent misuse of charitable contributions.
The government reminded donors to confirm registration status before giving zakat or other charity, particularly during peak donation periods.
By verifying certificates and registration details, citizens can help prevent funds from reaching unlawful organisations. The Punjab-banned organisations list serves as a legal and public awareness measure to strengthen compliance and promote responsible charitable giving.
