The Punjab Education Department has set the dates for the upcoming academic year 2025-26, detailing a comprehensive schedule for over 42,000 government schools across the province. More than 6.5 million students are expected to sit for the annual examinations, which will commence on March 10, 2025.
The examinations will last ten days and conclude on March 20. Education officials have announced that results will be declared in the last week of March, paving the way for the new academic year to begin on April 1, 2025.
In preparation for the new academic year, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has implemented significant changes to the examination format for matriculation students. Starting from the 2025 academic year, the total marks for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies have been increased from 50 to 100 each.

The Punjab Textbook Board (PTBB) has revised the textbooks for these subjects to reflect the updated marks policy. The Islamic Studies examination will now be conducted for ninth-grade students, while the Pakistan Studies exam will occur during the matriculation year. According to this revised curriculum, the PTBB has already begun printing the new textbooks.
The changes are part of broader efforts to enhance educational standards and ensure students are thoroughly assessed in critical subjects. The move is expected to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of these subjects among students, aligning with national educational goals.
