The Sindh government has declared August 20th, Tuesday, a public holiday across the province to celebrate the Urs of the revered saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
In alignment with this declaration, a notification specifies that all government offices, educational institutions, and businesses will close for the day. The annual three-day Urs festivities are set to occur in Bhit Shah, where Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai spent his life and where his shrine stands.
The government has organized several official events in honour of the occasion. These include the Shah Latif Literary Conference, traditional Sindhi wrestling matches, Sufi music performances, and exhibitions related to agriculture and industry. A cultural village will also display Sindhi heritage, and the esteemed Shah Latif Award will be distributed.
