Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won 33 seats, while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won 18 in the AJK LG elections.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, PTI candidates won 33 seats in AJK LG votes, while PPP got 18 seats. On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) won 14 AJK LG seats, while 7 independents won. Muslim Conference secured only one seat.
First-phase local government elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) were held on Sunday under strict security.
418 voting sites were deemed sensitive and 257’most sensitive,’ requiring three and five police officers, respectively. Other polling sites had two officers, officials said.
2716 candidates, including 900 independents, competed for 595 seats in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and Hattian Bala districts. On December 3, elections will be held in four Poonch Division districts.
695,049 people, including 320,747 women, voted in the first phase of elections in three Muzaffarabad districts.
Poonch and Mirpur will hold local elections on January 3 and 8, respectively.
