The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has publicly declared its capability to establish a government at the federal level without seeking alliances with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
In a firm statement, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan emphasized that PTI is not engaging in discussions with either PPP or PML-N, confidently stating that PTI is on track to secure 150 National Assembly seats. This number would enable them to form a government independently at the Centre.
Independent Candidates and Electoral Dynamics
Barrister Gohar further clarified PTI’s stance towards forming a coalition government, explicitly stating their intention to govern alone at the Centre and in Punjab. He highlighted PTI’s lead in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reinforcing their position to govern there. He reassured that independent candidates associated with PTI are committed to the party and dismissed the possibility of joining other parties contrary to PTI’s directives.
This statement directly responds to claims made by PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar, who suggested that independent candidates who were successful in the 2024 general elections were in dialogue with PML-N. Dar indicated these independents might choose their affiliations within the next 72 hours, as permitted by the Constitution.
