Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) denied a long-term temporary government setup.
Former NA Speaker Asad Qaisar said the administration offered PTI a long-term temporary government. Therefore, no extra-constitutional demand shall be entertained.
Asad Qaisar said the PTI is ready to talk if the government announces an election date.
He claimed the Constitution doesn’t allow for long-term interim governance and that such an offer must be rejected. However, he added that they’re ready for talks if the government sets an election date.
He said accepting PTI lawmakers’ resignations is a political, not constitutional, matter. He stated resigning PTI legislators haven’t received payment or benefits since April.
Asad Qaisar said they asked NA Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to accept their resignation. He stated they notified the NA Speaker that Qasim Khan Suri had accepted the resignation. The NA Speaker was urged to follow the former speaker’s decision. Asad Qaisar said they asked the NA speaker if he accepted 11 lawmakers’ resignations one by one. Asad Qaisar said the NA speaker indicated 11 MPs tweeted him about quitting.
Former NA speaker said they tweeted Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. He stated the government wouldn’t accept PTI MNAs’ resignations.
