Islamabad: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced that the venue for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled for September 8 has been relocated after the district authorities issued a new NOC for the rally to be held at a ground near the livestock market on GT Road.
The PTI core committee has finalized the logistics for the September 8 rally and outlined a comprehensive strategy to draw supporters from across the nation. The committee has tasked all Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) with mobilizing people from their constituencies to participate.
In response to potential legislative developments, the PTI core committee has resolved to oppose any bills concerning the judiciary vigorously. Furthermore, the committee has criticized recent police raids on PTI candidates’ meetings and declared that the rally will proceed despite these setbacks.
Additionally, PTI plans to challenge the recently enacted Peaceful Protest Bill 2024, passed by the National Assembly. During a press conference, PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar, Umar Ayub, Raouf Hassan, Shibli Faraz, and Sheikh Waqas Akram, voiced their opposition to the bill, alleging that it contradicts Article 16 of the Constitution and infringes on the right to peaceful assembly. They expressed their intentions to seek judicial recourse against the bill.

Barrister Gohar criticized the government’s rapid passage of the bill, questioning the penalization of peaceful protests with potential three-year sentences. Despite these legal challenges, PTI remains committed to continuing its rallies nationwide. Raouf Hassan highlighted the Supreme Court’s recent decision favouring PTI regarding NAB amendments, emphasizing that PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, prioritises national interests over personal gains.
