Parliamentarians from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have donated salaries earned during the sit-in to charities.
PTI MNAs who earned an estimated Rs20 million during the sit-in from August 2014 till January 2015 donated their salaries to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.
According to sources, PTI Chairman Imran Khan donated his salary to the Shaukhat Khanum Memorial Hospital Fund.
In July 2015, salaries were paid to 24 PTI MNAs including chairman Imran Khan who had submitted their resignations in August 2014 during the sit-in. The party had been criticised for receiving their salaries for a period of their absence from the National Assembly.
Imran Khan had announced that the party would be depositing the salaries earned during this period with the government.
