The PTI long march after Eid is reportedly under preparation, according to Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, who also described the party’s February 8 strike as unsuccessful.
Speaking on ARY News programme Off The Record, Sanaullah claimed that the nationwide strike call failed to disrupt normal activity. He said the protest lacked planning and failed to gain traction nationwide.
According to him, the shutdown appeal remained limited to media statements rather than translating into widespread public action. He added that the outcome could have political consequences for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
PTI Long March After Eid and Political Tensions
Rana Sanaullah said the opposition party is now preparing for a long march after Eid. However, he did not provide specific details regarding timing or strategy.
He also addressed reports concerning the incarceration of PTI’s founding chairman. Sanaullah stated that the government had not offered to move him outside prison facilities.
At the same time, he confirmed that discussions had taken place about seeking court approval for a potential hospital transfer on medical grounds. He emphasised that any such decision would depend on judicial orders, as the former premier is a convicted prisoner under court custody.
The adviser asserted that available information indicates the PTI founder remains in good health. He said the inmate undergoes daily medical check-ups, and doctors review meals before they are served.
According to Sanaullah, the former premier has access to television and newspapers and is housed in a six-room cell. He added that lawyer Salman Safdar met him for three hours and likely inspected the facilities during that visit.

Sanaullah further stated that authorities are awaiting Safdar’s report. If its contents contradict official records, the government would challenge it and seek further verification.
Political Discourse and Online Rhetoric
Commenting on the broader political climate, Sanaullah alleged that online abuse has become widespread. He suggested that the tone of political discourse has negatively affected all parties, including PTI.
He maintained that disagreements between the government and the opposition persist because of differences in political approaches. He also reiterated that claims regarding the impact of the February 8 strike were exaggerated. The situation highlights ongoing political tensions as both sides prepare for future moves in the national arena.
