Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar, alongside key party figures, met with former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on Monday. The meeting included Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Information Advisor Barrister Saif and PTI leader Ali Mohammad Khan.
Sources indicated that the meeting aimed to update Imran Khan on the latest developments regarding the protest and to seek his advice.
After the meeting, Barrister Gohar emphasized the importance of keeping Imran Khan informed about party strategies while he remains incarcerated. The protest is anticipated to be significant, and party leaders are keen to involve him in planning the actions.
Meanwhile, large groups of PTI supporters, led by K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and opposition leader Omar Ayub, faced severe tear gas shelling from law enforcement as they moved toward Islamabad.
Starting from Swabi, the convoys progressed into Punjab but encountered police resistance near Attock Bridge, Chach Interchange, and Ghazi Barotha Canal. Law enforcement used heavy tear gas to disperse the supporters.
During a brief stop in Swabi, the Chief Minister encouraged party members to persevere, stating, “We must advance and not turn back until Imran Khan is released.” Later, he rallied the supporters at Ghazi to prepare for more obstacles ahead.
Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife, expressed frustration with the convoy’s delays and called on supporters to continue moving forward.
The convoy paused briefly as CM Ali Amin Gandapur advised supporters to rest before facing further confrontations, receiving mixed reactions from the group.
Bushra Bibi was adamant, saying, “We are here to bring Khan back. Let’s move without delay,” urging supporters to focus on securing Imran Khan’s release.
Punjab Police arrested PTI’s chief whip, Aamir Dogar, and party leader Zain Qureshi at the Qadirpurra Toll Plaza in Multan. These arrests occurred amid escalating security and political tensions as PTI moves forward with its protest plans.
The government has implemented stringent measures to thwart the protest, including deploying heavy security forces, sealing major roads, and erecting barriers around the capital.
