Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has taken decisive steps towards reinforcing accountability within the party, particularly focusing on Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) governance.
According to party sources, Khan has tasked the PTI’s accountability committee with preparing a detailed report by May on alleged corruption and the overall performance of ministers in the region.
According to PTI sources, Khan’s directive seeks to scrutinize cabinet members’ financial and administrative conduct in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). Committee member Advocate Qazi Anwar, who is leading the accountability process, confirmed that performance evaluations of all ministers, advisors, and assistants are currently in progress. These evaluations encompass comprehensive assessments of fund usage and administrative outcomes.

Qazi Anwar stated, “The report detailing the performance of each cabinet member will be ready by the first week of May. Each minister has been instructed to provide a complete dossier on their tenure, which the committee will meticulously review.” The Food Minister has already submitted their performance review to the committee, setting a precedent for transparency and diligence.
This move coincides with Khan’s recent instruction for PTI members holding government positions to resign from party roles. This facilitated a fresh organizational structure under Junaid Akbar, the newly appointed president of PTI’s K-P chapter. This strategic change aims to enhance the party’s governance capabilities and address internal challenges effectively.
Salman Akram Raja, PTI Secretary General, discussed these developments after visiting Khan in Adiala Jail, reassuring supporters of Khan’s health and resolve. Raja also highlighted Khan’s intention to address systemic issues within the prison system in a forthcoming letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, citing undue influences affecting jail administration.
