The government earlier today granted ‘conditional permission’ to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold its foundation day rally at F-9 Park on April 24, a day after Imran Khan and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had a brief meeting while travelling to London via the same flight from Lahore.
The decision to grant the permission for rally was taken at a high level meeting at the Interior Ministry.
However, the PTI has been informed that participants of the rally would be allowed to enter the venue from the Nine Avenue gate of the F-9 Park, while the party would also have to make some security arrangements on its own.
The PTI would have to ensure no danda-wielding worker joins the rally, and would bear responsibility for any damage to public property.
Imran Khan on Thursday confirmed he had a meeting with Nisar Ali Khan on the plane en route to London and the minister had reservations about the PTI’s rally at the F-9 Park in Islamabad.
Khan said he told the interior minister that his party had no plan to enter the Red Zone and it would be only a day-long celebration.
