The second round of negotiations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government commenced, with PTI outlining key demands: the establishment of a judicial commission to examine the events of May 9 and November 26, and the release of all political detainees, including Imran Khan.
PTI representatives, including Omar Ayub, Raja Nasser Abbas, Asad Qaiser, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and Salman Akram Raja, convened at Parliament House, reported by Express News. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur later joined the delegation led by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
The meeting also saw participation from Ishaq Dar, Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Aleem Khan, Farooq Sattar, Ejaz-ul-Haq, and Khalid Magsi.
During the discussions, PTI emphasized their calls for a judicial commission and the immediate release of detained members, including Imran Khan. Asad Qaiser, addressing the media, noted that while progress was slow, the dialogue was ongoing.
Before this session, PTI leaders met with Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, with Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in attendance. Additionally, PTI leaders, led by Salman Akram Raja, discussed Imran Khan’s directives with the opposition leader in the National Assembly.
In response to queries about written demands, Omar Ayub mentioned that PTI would finalize and submit their proposals after further internal deliberations. He also refuted any notions of clandestine meetings outside Parliament.
Earlier, Imran Khan, detained in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, instructed his negotiators to maintain a firm stance on releasing detainees, reinforcing this during a meeting with Barrister Ali Zafar and Suleman Akram Raja. After their visit, they resumed preparations for ongoing negotiations, steadfast in their position against any compromise on the prisoner release issue.
