The PTI has ended the basic party membership of 11 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly legislators. The list includes Chief Minister Gulbar Khan. The party says they formed a forward bloc and voted against party policy.
Most of the suspended lawmakers are also cabinet members. Identical termination notices, dated September 5, were issued to:
- Abdul Hameed
- Haji Shah Baig
- Mushtaq Ahmad
- Syed Amjad Ali Zaidi
- Shamsul Haq Lone
- Dilshad Bano
- Raja Nasir Ali Khan Maqpoon
- Surayya Zaman
- Raja Azam Khan Amacha
- Raja Fazal Rahim
Chief Minister Gulbar Khan also received the notice.
The notices say the decision takes effect immediately. PTI states it acted under party policy and procedures. The party cites actions in the GB Assembly. It alleges the lawmakers formed a forward bloc and voted against party decisions. The notices say these actions violated party policy and harmed party interests and reputation. The lawmakers were warned not to use the party’s name, designation, or membership. PTI says any misuse may trigger further action, including legal steps.

PTI also issued a show-cause notice to former GB governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon. The notice alleges he conspired against the party and approached members for defection. He has two days to respond in writing. PTI says unsatisfactory replies or no reply will lead to action under party rules.

Gulbar Khan, a disgruntled PTI member, led a forward bloc. He became GB chief minister in July 2023 after PTI’s Khalid Khurshid was disqualified by the GB Chief Court. The court cited a licence from the GB Bar Council allegedly based on a fake degree. After the disqualification, several PTI lawmakers switched sides. A coalition of dissatisfied PTI members, PML-N, and PPP formed the government. Gulbar Khan became the chief minister.
