The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has stated the Bahawalnagar incident, highlighting it as a symptom of the escalating lawlessness within Pakistan.

The party attributes the origins of this disorder to the events starting from May 25, 2022, likening it to a self-destructive force that undermines the state’s foundation.

PTI criticizes the methods used against its members and supporters, including invasions of privacy and violence, which were initially directed at dismantling the party but have now reportedly backfired on the state institutions themselves.

— PTI (@PTIofficial) April 11, 2024

The party points to the recent events as evidence contradicting the narrative that PTI was responsible for attacks on state property, suggesting that the real perpetrators are now revealing themselves through such incidents.

Furthermore, PTI notes the detrimental impact of this pervasive lawlessness on the judiciary and police, with the latter becoming its latest victim. It criticizes the encouragement of privacy violations and the infringement of constitutional rights, allegedly spurred by intelligence agencies, urging a departure from these practices.

Highlighting the lack of leadership and support within the Punjab Police, as exemplified by the actions of the Inspector General (IG) Punjab and other officials, PTI calls for introspection within the department.

Condemning the Bahawalnagar incident, PTI demands legal accountability for those responsible and emphasizes the need for adherence to the law.
