Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan on Wednesday expressed serious concern after reports surfaced that party founder Imran Khan was recently taken to a hospital in Islamabad.
Speaking at a press conference alongside senior PTI leaders in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar said the reports had alarmed both the party and Khan’s family. He stated that neither the party leadership nor family members had received any official information. They had not learned about the nature of Khan’s medical condition.
Gohar demanded that authorities immediately allow a meeting with the PTI founder. He stressed that if a meeting could not take place the same day, it should be permitted without delay.

Earlier, local media reported that Imran Khan was taken under heavy security to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday for a medical procedure. According to the reports, doctors treated him for an eye-related issue. The following day, he was returned to Adiala Jail.
On Tuesday, PTI cited what it described as credible media reports claiming that doctors diagnosed Imran Khan with Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO) in his right eye. The party warned that medical experts consider the condition serious and potentially dangerous if not treated promptly. It can also lead to permanent vision damage.
Reports suggest Mr. Imran Khan may be suffering from central retinal vein occlusion. Although we cannot independently verify this, we are deeply concerned and request that a team from Shaukat Khanum Hospital be granted immediate access to participate in his care.#SKMCH pic.twitter.com/1dSLyTEKo3

However, Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Khan, dismissed the reports. She stated that her brother did not suffer from any eye-related illness and described the circulating information as misleading. She alleged that false narratives were being spread deliberately to create confusion.
Imran Khan has remained in Adiala Jail since August 2023. He faces multiple cases, including allegations related to corruption and terrorism, following his removal from office through a no-confidence motion in April 2022.
Barrister Gohar also highlighted that PTI leaders last met the party founder on December 20. He said the party has repeatedly sought permission for another meeting and even filed a formal petition. However, authorities have not granted approval so far.
