Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed candidates filed numerous petitions in the Lahore High Court challenging the electoral victories of prominent PML-N figures, including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Aleem Khan of the IPP.
The claimants allege election rights infringements, citing exclusion from result consolidation at Returning Officer (RO) offices, a critical phase during Form-47 preparation.
PTI-aligned independents, finishing second, reported removal by police under RO directives, labelling it a stark fair process breach. They demand Form-47 annulment, insisting on Election Act 2017 and Rules adherence, ensuring their consolidation process presence.
These independents contest the wins of Nawaz Sharif (NA-130), Maryam Nawaz (NA-119), and others in various constituencies, including IPP’s Aleem Khan (NA-117).
Similarly, PTI-aligned candidates dispute five Punjab Assembly seat outcomes, alleging forced RO office ejection.
Ishtiaq Ahmed Samsialvi, challenging Nawaz Sharif’s NA-130 win, claims eviction during Dr. Yasmeen Rashid’s lead. He seeks Form-47 cancellation and an inclusive consolidation process.
Shahzad Farooq, opposing Maryam Nawaz’s NA-119 win, alleges his removal when leading and requests Form-45 copies and inclusion in the consolidation process.
Petitioners like Rihana Dar, citing forced removal during favourable outcomes, urge for Form-47 discarding and an inclusive consolidation mandate.
Following these disputes, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi of LHC halted NA-128’s election result proceedings on February 9, suspending Form-47 operations prepared without Salman Akram Raja or his agent, acting on a plea against his eviction during result consolidation.
