Imran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), unexpectedly visited Shaukat Khanum Hospital in Lahore on Saturday due to ongoing stomach pain.
After spending approximately four hours at the hospital, Khan returned home.
The discomfort had plagued the former cricket star and politician since the afternoon, leading to his decision to seek medical advice and treatment at the esteemed hospital.
Upon his arrival in the early morning hours of Saturday, a team of specialist doctors promptly began to examine Khan. First, they performed a series of preliminary tests and evaluations to diagnose the cause of his abdominal pain.
Khan, prime minister from 2018 until 2023, was ousted from office following a vote of no-confidence led by a coalition of 13 parties known as the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in April of the previous year. Since his removal, Khan has been vigorously campaigning for a general elections date, a demand the coalition government has successfully resisted.
Moreover, on May 9, Khan was taken into custody on the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises concerning the Al-Qadir Trust case. He was held for several days until the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared his arrest unlawful. After this decision, Khan was presented before the IHC, which granted him a two-week bail on all charges against him on May 12.
As Khan’s medical examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital is ongoing, further updates regarding his health status are anticipated to be provided by the hospital officials or his spokesperson soon.
