Earlier this month, a 13-member Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa ruled that PTI is eligible for these reserved seats.
The ruling overturns a previous decision by the Peshawar High Court, which had supported the Election Commission of Pakistan’s denial of the seats. The Supreme Court’s verdict was a split decision, passed with an 8-5 majority, providing a notable setback to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s coalition.
