The Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited (PSX) will remain closed on April 14, 2023, in observance of Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

Ramadan began on March 23 this year, after the sighting of the moon on March 22. Eidul Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is expected to fall on April 22, 2023.
Khalid Aijaz, the Secretary General of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council, who ruled out the possibility of the moon being sighted on April 20.
Aijaz explained that the new crescent marking the beginning of Shawwal will be born at 9:13 am on April 20, but its age will be less than 10 hours that day.
For the crescent to be sighted, the duration should be more than 19 hours. Even if the sky is clear on April 20, the moon would not be visible, he added. Consequently, the month of Ramadan will last for 30 days, and the 1st of Shawwal will fall on April 22.
