Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will be privatized during the first week of August 2024, and six companies have been shortlisted for bidding.
The shortlisted companies have requested that PIA’s financial details be assessed by July, which the authorities currently provide. It is important to note that this consortium of six companies has passed the initial qualification stage for privatization.
The eligibility of these companies to bid for PIA was confirmed at a meeting of the Privatisation Commission Board.
Minister Khan highlighted the government’s pledge to transparently and effectively privatize state-owned enterprises operating at a loss during this gathering.
Khan has proposed broadcasting the privatisation proceedings to ensure openness and build trust. This measure is intended to demonstrate the integrity of the process to all stakeholders.
