The Ministry of Finance has approved several months of extra salaries for officers and employees of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Federal Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb approved the extra salaries for officers of the Prime Minister’s Office just days before leaving for Washington to request a new bailout package from the IMF to prevent the country from defaulting. The Federal Minister made this decision as the Chairman of the Economic Coordination Committee.

Sources say that approval has been given for 4 months of extra salaries for the Prime Minister’s Office officers. These extra salaries have been approved as an honorarium due to additional work, and it is said that the government will obtain a loan from banks at an interest rate of 23% to pay this reward to the officers and employees.

Additionally, approval was given for two months of extra salaries for Prime Minister’s Office employees from grades 1 to 16. Following this announcement, the total number of extra salaries to be received by these employees in two months has increased to five.

It should be noted that the former caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar ul Haq Kakar, had approved three salaries as a reward for the employees of the Prime Minister’s Office. The Prime Minister restored the three salaries approved by the former caretaker Prime Minister for officers from grades 17 to 21 and approved an increase by adding one more month’s salary.
