Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Saturday the creation of a formidable committee to consider Pakistan’s role in the forthcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, slated for October in India.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari chairs this committee and includes a mix of ministers like the interior, law, Inter-Provincial Coordination, information and broadcasting ministers, along with the advisor on Kashmir affairs, the advisor on Establishment, the foreign secretary, PSPM, and representatives from intelligence agencies and other essential departments. Their task is to assemble and weigh up Pakistan’s potential engagement in the imminent World Cup.
The committee has been authorized to hold its meetings and deeply assess the involvement of Pakistan’s Cricket Team in this international cricket competition.
On July 2, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), backed by the Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee (IPCC), submitted a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the chief patron of cricket.
As per trustworthy sources, the PCB voiced its apprehensions and requested guidance from the government via this letter, drawing attention to the fact that the World Cup is arranged to occur in India.
