President Arif Alvi called PTI Chairman Imran Khan amid political upheaval in Punjab.
The provincial government and opposition remain at odds over a no-confidence motion and vote of confidence against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.
PTI and PML-Q are convinced they have the numbers to keep the Punjab CM in office, but the opposition says it could disturb the ruling alliance.
As political tensions linger, President Alvi asked the former prime minister about his talks with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and other ministries.
Both leaders discussed choices made by PTI’s senior leadership and PML-Q in today’s meeting.
Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Sibtain Khan has asked President Alvi to remove the governor, stated Minister for Environment Protection and Parliamentary Affairs, Muhammad Basharat Raja.
According to Article 101(3), the president can remove the governor. Basharat stated the speaker complained against the governor in the termination letter.
“He also pointed out the governor’s unconstitutional actions and asked the president to prevent him from doing any more unconstitutional actions.”
