Two Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) members, recently elected to the Sindh Assembly, will defer their oath-taking to Saturday.
Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, PPP’s sitting Senators, secured victories for Sindh Assembly seats in the 8th February elections. The PPP strategized for these Senators to commence their Sindh Assembly terms post-presidential elections, aiming to support Asif Ali Zardari’s candidacy.
Both Khuhro and Dahar hold senatorial positions until March 2027. The Sindh Assembly scheduled an oath session for new MPAs on Saturday, February 24, following a directive from Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori upon Caretaker Chief Minister Maqbool Baqar’s suggestion. This session marks the beginning of duties for the newly elected officials.
Bilawal Bhutto disclosed PPP’s nominations for the Sindh Assembly’s deputy speaker and speaker roles, selecting Naveed Anthony and Awais Shah, respectively. With the PPP poised for a historic fourth successive term in Sindh, Murad Ali Shah is the chosen candidate for provincial chief minister.
At a press briefing after the party’s Sindh parliamentary committee meeting, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari confirmed Murad Ali Shah as the chief ministerial candidate.
