The Pakistan Peoples Party has formally demanded the removal of Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, insisting on the implementation of a political formula agreed upon before the current government’s formation. The party has simultaneously denied the existence of any half-term arrangement for the chief minister’s position in Balochistan.
Sindh Government spokesperson and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sadia Javeed clarified the party’s position in an interview. She stated that the pre-government agreement stipulated that two governors would be appointed from the PPP and two from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). While the PPP has received its share of appointments, Javeed noted that the PML-N has yet to exercise its right to nominate a candidate for the Sindh Governor position.
Javeed explained that the current governor, a nominee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has become a point of contention for her party. Despite holding a constitutional office, Governor Tessori recently attended a press conference organised by MQM leaders that targeted the PPP. Javeed stated that the governor’s participation in political events against the PPP is a primary reason for their objection to his continuation in the role.

When questioned why this concerned the PPP if the PML-N had issues with an MQM governor, Javeed reiterated that the problem lies with the governor himself, who is engaging in political activities against her party.
The spokesperson also firmly denied the existence of any half-term formula for the Chief Minister of Balochistan, countering a recent claim made by a PML-N senator. She asserted that the government of Balochistan, led by Chief Minister Sardar Sarfraz Khan Bugti, is stable and “going nowhere,” dismissing any suggestion of a threat to the Balochistan Assembly.
Javeed stated that she had no knowledge of any 2.5-year term arrangement that would allow the PML-N to assume the office of the chief minister for the remainder of the term. This statement directly responds to Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki’s reported claim that the PPP and PML-N had agreed to rotate the chief minister position under a half-term formula.
