Late on Monday night, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, a candidate representing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for a Sindh Assembly constituency in Mirpurkhas, became the victim of an armed assault. The attack occurred near Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Bypass Road in Mirpurkhas, resulting in gunshot wounds to Shah.
Following the attack, Shah was swiftly transported to Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) in Hyderabad. From there, he was referred to a hospital in Karachi for further medical treatment. A medical officer at LUH assured that Shah’s condition was stable despite sustaining gunshot wounds to his left arm and shoulder.
Investigation Underway with Unanswered Questions
In response to the incident, SSP Mirpurkhas, Adil Memon, has assembled an investigation team to delve into the circumstances surrounding the attack. However, at this stage, the police remain perplexed about the identity of the assailants and their underlying motives. Furthermore, an FIR for the incident has yet to be registered.
