The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) announced its comprehensive manifesto on Saturday, outlining its vision for Pakistan’s future should it win the upcoming general elections on February 8.
Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to unveil the manifesto titled “Chuno Nai Soch Ko” (Choose New Thinking). He directed followers to a website for full access.
Bilawal’s tweet highlighted the PPP’s commitment to addressing poverty, unemployment, and inflation.
The manifesto emphasizes poverty alleviation and improved facilities for the working and lower classes. It includes healthcare, education, food security, and women’s empowerment plans.
A key promise is to double wage earners’ real incomes, focusing on growth, investments, and job creation. The manifesto proposes an annual 8% increase in minimum wage, aiming for a living wage standard.
Housing is declared a right, and plans are in place for homeownership assistance for the vulnerable, including the poor and landless.
The “Bhook Mitao Programme” aims to ensure food security, affordable, nutritious food, enhanced domestic production, and support for women entrepreneurs.
The manifesto introduces labour cards, offering workers educational, health, and pension benefits.
Educated youth will receive a one-year stipend through the Youth Card.
The Haari Kisan card will offer agricultural subsidies and insurance, while the Waseela-e-Haq program will provide small loans to impoverished women.
The manifesto aligns with PPP’s 10-point agenda, focusing on wage increases, free solar energy, education projects, nationwide healthcare, housing for flood victims and the poor, expanding welfare schemes, support for farmers, labourer benefits, youth unemployment solutions, and the Bhook Mitao Programme.
