Weather expert Jawad Memon has warned about the potential development of cyclonic circulation in the Arabian Sea. This formation is due to a low-pressure system in the sea which could impact Pakistan’s coastal regions, including Karachi.
According to Memon, this low-pressure system could escalate into a cyclone between June 10 and 11, possibly threatening Sindh, Balochistan, Gujarat (India) coastal areas, and Oman.
The prospective cyclone, suggested to be named “Biparjoy” by Bangladesh, translates to “destruction.”
The formation of cyclones in the Arabian Sea is not an uncommon event; they occur almost annually and sometimes more frequently within a year. Recently, these cyclones haven’t directly impacted Pakistan as they typically lose strength before reaching the coast.
However, it’s vital to understand that tropical cyclones are among the most devastating natural weather events, capable of causing significant destruction and loss of life. Given the risk of a cyclone, it’s essential to comprehend the basics of tropical cyclones and the associated hazardous storm surges.
