Nuno Miguel Vilao Castanheria, a world traveller from Portugal, tragically succumbed to injuries incurred in a road mishap in the Chagai district of Balochistan while he was on his motorbike journey towards Quetta via Iran.
The unfortunate incident transpired when a collision occurred between Castanheria’s motorcycle and a pickup vehicle in the vicinity of Dalbandin, at around 3 pm on Thursday, according to Chagai’s Deputy Commissioner Hussain Jan Baloch.
The Incident and Castanheria’s Mission
In the wake of the tragic incident, local authorities are transferring the body of the deceased traveller to Quetta, and they’ve managed to retrieve his identity card. Efforts are underway to establish contact with the Portuguese consulate in Pakistan to carry out the subsequent procedures related to the demise of the 28-year-old tourist.
Per the information on Castanheria’s website, Mission Unplug, he embarked on a daring journey worldwide on his motorcycle, aspiring to narrate his travel experiences to his readers. His global odyssey, initiated on May 21, aimed to traverse 50 nations worldwide, covering an impressive distance of more than 85,000 km.
The website echoes his enthusiasm for exploration and adventure: “I want to see and enjoy the world as much as I can, meeting new places, new people and facing new adventures. I will be travelling off-road as much as possible, always considering that I am travelling with a big bike and will be alone.”
