Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Police conducted a raid on a religious seminary and spiritual healing center in Haripur, uncovering 115 individuals who were chained.
According to reports, the police targeted the seminary located in the Padhiana area on the outskirts of Haripur city and discovered these 115 individuals, who had been subjected to brutal torture. Families had admitted the detainees seeking spiritual healing for drug addiction.
During their stay, the detainees were reportedly tortured under the guise of spiritual treatment, with families charged approximately ten thousand rupees each month for the supposed cure.
The seminary’s administrator, Ilyas Qadri, along with four of his aides, was arrested during the operation. It is notable that this same seminary was also raided by police in 2006, resulting in the recovery of around 106 detainees.
