Police raided the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar late at night, during which only his elderly parents were present.
During the operation, two of Azhar’s employees were taken into custody. Azhar has described the raid as an attempt to harass his family.
Azhar has publicly responded to the incident on an X social media platform, stating, “I am neither frightened nor willing to submit to such actions. The people’s rule will prevail in this country, and the tyranny is on its last breath.” He emphasized his resolve not to be intimidated or subdued by such tactics, affirming his commitment to establishing governance by the people. “The ongoing fascism is taking its final breaths,” he declared.
Following the violence on May 9, 2023, Hammad Azhar went into hiding in anticipation of a police crackdown. After a year of absence, Azhar has publicly resurfaced, appearing at his party’s central secretariat in Islamabad.
Azhar’s return was prompted by a call to action from PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, who recently urged all party leaders underground to reemerge and resume their political activities.
