In Lahore, authorities have arrested the alleged sexual assault suspect at Gulab Devi Hospital involving a young woman receiving medical treatment.
The incident occurred in the Gulab Devi Hospital Amiruddin Block, where the victim from Nankana Sahib was undergoing treatment. Reports suggest that a laboratory technician working at the hospital, together with an accomplice who is also a student and laboratory technician, lured the woman to a restroom in another block and assaulted her while the accomplice stood guard.
Lahore Police acted swiftly, registering a case against the accused based on a complaint from the victim’s father. The detailed report points out that the assault took place on July 13, 2024, representing a severe breach of trust and safety within the medical institution.
Police apprehended the primary suspect, Nauman Shakil, within hours of the incident, demonstrating rapid response enabled by modern investigative technologies. However, the accomplice remains at large, with police conducting raids to capture him.
SP Model Town, Ikhlaq Ullah Tarar, confirmed Shakil’s swift arrest at the hospital and assured that efforts to secure the accomplice are intensive. He stressed the police’s commitment to imposing stringent legal consequences on those guilty of such offences, reflecting a zero-tolerance policy toward sexual violence.
In a related development, Lahore police have also arrested suspects involved in a separate gang rape case in the Sheikhupura area, including an accomplice who facilitated the crime. The suspects allegedly targeted a pregnant woman. They are detained for further interrogation to uncover any additional accomplices involved in this serious crime.
